Munich

Munich Rathaus-- City Hall

One of the oldest breweries still in operation in the world (1328) and my favorite Munich beer. This was probably the secret reason I went back to Munich a second time.

This seems very german to me... these guys are all sitting at a cart on bicycle wheels and every one of their seats have pedals... so they just bike around on the cart and drink beer....

for Colin and Jordan---- The brothers that inspiried me toward beer drinking and world travel. I raised a liter in the English Garden in your honor.

Munich -- Deutsches Museum

Bored last Sunday while I was visiting Munich, I decided to wander into the Deutsches Museum. I had heard it was some kind of Science Museum. Little did I know I had unknowlingly wandered into the biggest science and technology museum in the world. I ended up spending the entire afternooon there. It is probably one of the coolest and most interesting museums I have ever been to:

Helicopter

A section of an Airbus passenger

Besides being a cool staircase, this is also a solar telescope. It projects the image of the sun onto the round screen at the bottom.

"Maria" -- a deep sea German fishing boat from the late 19th century

Cabin underneath the deck of the Ship

WW1 triplane

Ju 52-- a German transport plane, used as a military transport in WW2

A particle accelerator

Lutes

A folk bass from Eastren Europe

Old Doublebasses and Cello's

16th century Viol

This is the bottom of a giant swining pendulum that shows the earth rotating around the sun. The pendulum is started swinging at 9 in the morning (the middle bottom of the photo) and as the day goes on the pendulum moves in an arc from the bottom of the circle to the top. You can see how late in the day it is because half of the wooden "things" in the arc have already been tipped over by the pendelum.

Robot

Microrobot -- these are designed to do tasks together in packs or swarms
